Ted has spent 10 consecutive summers among the exceptional students at MEET. He has worn a number of different hats in the organization, but he enjoys his teaching hat best. Ted works as a postdoctoral associate at the MIT Plasma Science and Fusion Center, where he also completed his doctoral degree. His research is concerned with realizing clean, safe, sustainable energy technologies.

Amin has been a MEETer since 2010. He is Palestinian, grew up in Jerusalem, and has been a MEET student, TA, and instructor. When he's not building something, he's designing it, and when he's getting excited at MEET, he's studying computer science at MIT! Amin loves languages, penguins and his balero.

Born in sunny Los Angeles, California, Carlos spent the first seven years of his life in the village of Las Brisas in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, before moving back to LA. He is an MIT 2017 majoring in Computer Science and still vacillating on whether to minor in Management Science. When he’s not working or talking to the HackMIT team on Slack, Carlos loves drinking coffee, learning about people, and playing too many video games for his own good. He is always up for a round of Super Smash Brothers, no matter what.

Caroline was a Year1 CS instructor at MEET and is now Treasurer of the MIT-MEET Student Group. She a sophomore at MIT studying Course 6-3 (Computer Science and Engineering.) Caroline currently works at MIT CSAIL in the Computational Fabrication Group and is involved with MIT Hillel.

Sean Bonawitz Sean Bonawitz
MIT Entrepreneurship Instructor (Year1)

Sean is an MIT Sloan MBA and a former member of US Navy SEAL Team 5. During his five year career as a special forces bomb squad commander, he led combat missions in the Middle East and completed Secret Service assignments for the US President and Vice President. Sean transitioned out of the military into management consulting, serving Deloitte Strategy & Operations clients in Tokyo and the US. He now works for Google Finance on the Global Revenue Operations team. Sean joined MEET in 2013 as a business instructor, and loves to cook and travel.

Kathy was born in China and grew up in Ohio and Texas. She is a 2015 graduate of the MIT Sloan School of Management, where she focused on questions of sustainability. This is Kathy’s first summer teaching with MIT-MEET. Kathy practices meditation and yoga and is keenly interested in the everyday practice of living a true, honest, and meaningful life with an ear tuned in to justice and beauty.

Lorenzo has a strong passion for education and has been teaching computer science since his first summer with MEET back in 2011. Lorenzo graduated from MIT with a degree in Mathematics with Computer Science and currently creates courses for the online education platform Udacity. Lorenzo enjoys travelling, exploring new types of music, and cooking.

To put bread on the table, George teaches and flings together code for analyzing data. He currently does the latter to help retail stores become richer and renewable energy companies bring electricity to rural India. Outside these endeavors, George claims cycling, climbing, cooking, hitting the cinemas, skiing, and sewing among his hobbies. In some distant past of June 2015, George completed his PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT.

He’s currently traveling and will soon be working at Captricity, a startup that provides non-disruptive access to data generated by paper documents—including handwritten forms.

MIT-MEET Former President (Mentor)

Elena Glassman joined MEET in the Spring of 2013 as a Y1 Summer Instructor. Since then, she has served as President of the MEET student group on MIT’s campus, helping recruit and train new instructors. She grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, and has earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT. She is currently working toward a PhD at MIT in the same field, focusing on technology’s role in collective political action and technology for Computer Science education. Outside the lab, she hangs out in cafes with friends, and occasionally dabbles in Olympic Weightlifting.

Eric Timmons was a Year 2 instructor in the summer of 2010. Since then he has been the VP of instructor preparation for 2010-2011 and the president of the MIT student group for 2012-2013. He graduated from MIT with a Bachelor’s in Aerospace Engineering with Information Technologies in 2010 and a Master’s in the Autonomy sector of the AeroAstro department in 2013. He is currently a Computer Science PhD student in the MIT-WHOI Joint Program.

Liat Aaronson, Adv., is a partner at Marker Venture Capital and the former executive director of the Zell Entrepreneurship Program at the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) Herzliya. Liat holds a B.A. in political economy of industrial societies from the University of California at Berkeley, an LL.B. and MBA from Tel Aviv University, and an LL.M. in European law from the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. Liat leads the Yearlong curriculum development at MEET.
